Speed Test

Test-My-Speed is a powerful tool for testing the speed of your internet connection in an easy and detailed form. The test shows the results of a ping and download/upload speed test. It is advised to run the test with all other browser tabs and windows closed, all torrents paused and other programs which use your internet connection closed to obtain the fastest connection speed possible. Also recommended is to use either a hardwired connection to your modem or router, or a clear line of sight to a wireless router if that is what you wish to test the speed of. Display options such as the units in which your connection speed are displayed can be configured in the test settings table. Test-My-Speed will show you a standard ping result to the first node on your network, then perform a download and upload speed test. It will show your speed compared to average transfer speeds of various connection types. Finally, the cost calculation shows the estimated cost which common internet service providers charge for a connection of the same speed. Once the configuration is to your liking, click 'Test My Speed' to begin the test. Don't use your provider's own speed test to see if you're getting what you're paying for, use one which is not associated with any providers and gives you the most accurate results quickly and easily.
